How Mentees Find and Book You
Everything you configure in the portal exists to produce one screen: the one where a founder decides whether to spend money on an hour with you. This page walks that screen from their side.
What you will learn
- What the mentee actually sees at each step
- Which of your settings control which part of their experience
- Where bookings fall over, and what causes it
- What mentees see after they have booked
Step one - the marketplace#
Mentees reach mentors through Networking, filtered to the Mentor tab. Every verified mentor appears as a card, and they can narrow by sector and location from the filter panel.
- Your headline and expertise tags come from your profile
- The Verified badge comes from your verification state
- Being present here at all requires verification
Step two - your profile#
They open your profile and read the longer material: your approach, your background, your focus areas, and the session types you offer with their prices.
Your approach is the deciding paragraph
Credentials get you opened; the approach gets you booked. Founders are trying to work out what an hour with you is actually like, and specifics beat seniority.
Step three - picking a slot#
They choose a session type, then a time. The times they can see are produced from your weekly availability, minus anything already taken, minus anything that will not fit the duration.
- 1
They pick a session type
Price and duration come from what you configured.
- 2
They pick a slot
If somebody has already taken it, the booking is refused outright and they pick again.
- 3
They write an agenda
This and their pre-session notes are attached to the booking. Read them before the call.
- 4
They pay
Until payment clears, the booking does not reach your pending queue.
Where it falls over#
| What they experience | What is actually wrong |
|---|---|
| You are not in the marketplace | Not verified, or suspended |
| Your profile opens but nothing is bookable | No active session types |
| Session types exist but there are no times | No availability, or windows too narrow for the duration |
| A slot disappears as they book it | Someone else took it - working as intended |
| They booked but you never responded | Payment never cleared, so it never reached your queue |
Check your own profile the way a mentee would
Open the marketplace while signed in as yourself and find your own card. If you cannot book yourself an hour next week, neither can anybody else.
After they book#
Mentees track their side under My Mentorship: upcoming sessions, past sessions and the notes you leave.
They can create the booking, but it does nothing until payment clears - it will not reach your queue and it expires on its own once the start time passes.
Point them at your profile. They still book through the normal flow, which keeps the session, the payment and the record together.
You see theirs on the booking so you can reach them about the session. Keep the conversation on the platform where the session record lives.
