Announcements: what you are told, and what you tell your team
Two directions in one place - announcements from your incubator that you should not miss, and announcements you post to your own startup team.
What you will learn
- Where incubator announcements arrive, and how to know what you have missed
- How to post one to your own team
- What publishing and pinning actually do
Announcements come in two directions#
| From your incubator | From you | |
|---|---|---|
| Who writes it | The centre - programme staff | You, or somebody on your team |
| Who reads it | You and the rest of the cohort | Your startup team |
| Where it appears | Received announcements | Your own announcements list |
What your incubator has told you#
Announcements from the centre arrive in a received list, with an unread count so you can see at a glance whether you have missed something. Opening one marks it read.
Important
Deadlines, demo day dates and data-request reminders usually arrive this way. If you are the kind of person who reads notifications and forgets them, the unread count on this list is the thing to check weekly.
Posting to your own team#
You can write announcements for your own startup - the things that should not live in a chat thread and get scrolled past.
- Write it, then publish it. An unpublished announcement is a draft and nobody sees it
- Pin the ones that should stay at the top rather than sliding down as you post more
- Edit or remove one afterwards
Tip
Publishing is a separate step from writing, which catches people out. If your team says they never saw it, check it was published before assuming it was ignored.
