Your startup's page, and what it feeds
The company page is one record that incubators, investors and candidates all read. What to put on it, who on your team can change it, and what the verification badge is for.
What you will learn
- What the company page is actually used for, beyond looking official
- What each team role can do
- How your numbers reach an incubator or investor - which is not what most people expect
- What verification means and how to get it
One record, read by everyone you deal with#
Your company page is not a brochure. It is the record an incubator sees when you apply to a programme, an investor sees when they open a deal, and a candidate sees when they consider your job posting. Updating it once is the point - the alternative is the same details retyped into four systems, going stale at four different rates.
What goes on it#
- Name, logo, cover image, sector, stage, headquarters and founding year
- What you do - this is the description that appears wherever the page is found
- Your pitch deck
- Team members, with roles
- Jobs you post, which belong to the page rather than to whoever wrote them
Good to know
There is no version history on the pitch deck. Uploading a new one replaces the old one, so keep your own copies of previous versions if you need them.
Who on your team can do what#
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including the page's own settings. Full control. |
| Admin | Manage the team and the applications. Everything except owner-level settings. |
| Member | View and contribute. |
| Other | For someone who does not fit the three above. |
Tip
Make a second person Owner or Admin early. A company page whose only Owner is unreachable is a page nobody can update, and that includes taking down a job posting.
How your numbers actually reach anyone#
This is the part people get wrong, so it is worth stating plainly. There is no metrics form and no milestone tracker on your page. You do not publish numbers and let investors browse them - everything structured arrives because somebody asked you for it.
- An incubator or investor sends you a data request - a specific set of figures, on a schedule they set
- You respond to it from the startup portal, and that response is what they see
- Outstanding requests stay visible, so you can see what you still owe them
Important
So if you want your traction visible to a programme you are in, watch for their data requests rather than expecting a dashboard to fill itself. An unanswered data request is the most common reason an incubator's view of a startup is out of date.
Verification#
Verification is a check the platform runs so investors and incubators can tell a confirmed company from a page somebody made this morning. You ask for it; you do not get it automatically.
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Not started | You have not asked to be verified. |
| Pending | Your request is in and being checked. |
| Verified | Confirmed. The badge shows on your page. |
| Rejected | Not approved. The reason is attached, so you can fix it and reapply. |
| Expired | A verification that has lapsed and needs renewing. |
