Your Mentor Profile
Your profile does two jobs: it is the submission an administrator verifies, and it is the pitch a founder reads before spending money. This page covers what each field is really for and how the profile appears once it is live.
What you will learn
- What each profile field controls downstream
- How your profile looks to a founder browsing the marketplace
- Which fields drive filtering and which are pure narrative
- What to change when you are getting views but no bookings
Where to edit it#
Profile sits at the top of the sidebar under Overview. Everything is editable at any time, including after verification - changing your profile does not send you back into review.
What each field actually does#
| Field | Where it shows | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Headline | Under your name on your marketplace card | The single line that decides whether anyone clicks |
| Expertise | Green tags on your card | The most scannable thing about you |
| Industries | Grey tags on your card, and marketplace filters | How sector filtering finds you |
| Focus areas | Your profile page | Signals the shape of problem you take on |
| Startup stages | Your profile page and matching | Keeps you out of conversations you are not useful for |
| Languages | Your profile page | Practical filter for non-English sessions |
| Mentoring since | Your profile page | Shorthand for experience |
| Mentoring approach | Your profile page | The part founders read before booking a paid session |
| Background summary | Your profile page | Where you operated, and what makes the claims checkable |
Expertise tags are not keywords
They are read by humans scanning a grid of cards. ‘Pricing’ and ‘Enterprise sales’ tell a founder something; ‘Strategy’ and ‘Leadership’ do not.
How founders see you#
In the marketplace you are a card: avatar, name, verification badge, headline, then expertise and industry tags. That is the entire basis on which someone decides to open your profile, so the headline and the first few tags carry almost all the weight.
- 1
They open your profile
The full profile shows your approach, background, focus areas and the session types you offer.
The public view - what a founder sees before they book. - 2
They pick a session type
Price and duration come from your session types, not from the profile itself.
Visibility#
Verification decides whether you can be listed at all. Assuming you are verified, your profile is public and discoverable by default - that is the point of being in the marketplace.
Good to know
If you want to stop new enquiries without changing your profile, clear your availability instead. It is reversible in a single edit and leaves your history intact.
Check three things in order: do you have at least one active session type, do you have availability in the coming weeks, and is your headline specific enough to click. An empty calendar is the most common cause and the least visible one.
No. Verification is a state on your profile, not on a particular version of its text.
No - one mentor profile per account. Use focus areas and startup stages to signal who you are useful to rather than maintaining separate identities.
